5KTS Square
The £5000 T-Shirt (5KTS) is a project inspired by The Million Dollar Homepage, where the t-shirt is divided into 500 equal 3.5cm x 3.5cm squares and each square can be “sponsored” for £10. The aim is to raise £5000 for WaterAid, who are working tirelessly to provide resources and amenities for the 40% of people globally who do not have access to basic handwashing facilities at home. Sponsors can request a name, logo, or picture to be drawn in their square and I will do my best to recreate their request using my limited fabric markers. Once the 5KTS is complete, all money raised will be donated to WaterAid and the 5KTS will be displayed at an art exhibition once the lockdown is over (and potentially auctioned to raise even further funds for WaterAid).
Multiple squares can be purchased. If you want them aligned in a particular way, I will do my best to accommodate your instructions, but please bear in mind that they may not be exactly as requested due to available space.
The position of the square(s) on the 5KTS cannot be requested (though 9+ squares will likely be placed more prominently than single squares).
Due to the medium and space, colours and details may be compromised. Please bear in mind that this isn’t an attempt to win the Turner Prize. It’s a charitable art experiment.
Offensive language/images will not be tolerated and if submitted, your donation will be seen as an anonymous donation and I will choose what to write in its place.
